Let's all remember, this is week one! I am hearing a lot of Pats bandwagonners and folks giving up on the Steelers. I may as well say my Raiders are going to win the Super Bowl. Yeah, its seems people have lost their minds. Let's all come back to reality. No one expected no defense to be played in the Saints/Packers game. No one expected the Colts to get blown out by the Texans. No one saw the Bills beat on the Chiefs. No one, and I mean no one expected or thought Brady was gonna throw for over 500 yards or Cam Newton set all kinds of rookie records in their first NFL start (24-37 422 yards 2TDs 1INT). Any one who says different is flat out lying.
After all the so called experts made their picks, did the week 1 games all live up to they hype of the season that was in doubt just a couple of months ago? Quick answer is yes. One of the better games to watch was Bengals/Browns. With all the drama with the Bengals in the off season, that team came out, on the road and play together. Overcame a lost to their starting QB and found a way to win. The Bengals probably won't make the playoffs or even contend for it but they showed up and played and played well.
There were a couple of games that were very good that were not draws or marquee games. The Lions/Bucs games was one of my more entertaining games from week 1. The games wasn't sexy but Stafford played very well and lead his team. The Lions are no longer going to be the butt of jokes going forward. They are slowly but surely making people take notice that this team is for real. Don't sleep on Detroit. They could overachieve this year but playoffs are in their future in much sooner then later.
All in all, this has been one of the better week 1s in a very long time. Most likely the fact that this season was in doubt made it feel more then it might have been. That is debatable. Bottom line, football is here and then next 4+ months are going to be great.
D!
