The Phoenix Report: AFC South

Can Houston or Tennessee take advantage of a hurting Colts team?  That depends on a few things.  Is P Manning as hurt as he seems to be? That vote isn't completely in but I think Manning is almost done.  Neck injuries are usually career enders.

The Texans problem wasn't being able to move the ball or score.  Their problem was stopping other teams from scoring.  Last year, the Texans had one shut out.  A 20-0 win over the Titans.  It doesn't help when your defense gives up on average 30 pts a game and the offense averages 24 pts a game.  At the very least, those numbers have to flip flop and the gap extend 10 pts.  There were games they shouldn't have won (Raiders wk. 4) and games they should have lost (Charger, Jags, and Jets wks, 9,10,11).  Consistency is a key for this team.

The Jags are in disarray.  They release QB Gerrard 5 days before their week 1 game.  WTF?!!  If it was a salary cap move, the why didn't you do that a month ago?  Jags might win 2 games this year.  Yeah, I said it!!!

The Titans can't do any worse then last year, can they?  I will say, after giving up on V Young, picking up M Hasselbeck was great.  If the O-Line can keep him upright, Hasselbeck can pick apart defenses with the best of them.  Don't be surprised if the Titans make some noise in this division.  Especially with C Johnson getting the contract extension.  He will take a lot of pressure off of Hasselbeck.  Titans are contenders in this division.

The Colts haven't recovered from their SB lost to the Saints.  Manning gets hurt and it seems the ship is sinking fast.  K Collins is capable off keeping the ship afloat for a few weeks but I'm not a believer in a "Kurt Warner rebirth" here.  J Addai may be healthy but how long will that last, especially if the Colts become a running team.  Yeah, I'm laughing at that prospect too.  However long it take for Manning to get back to being Manning will determine how far the Colts will go.

Tennessee Titans will win the division.

D!
